Computer Literacy Classes
Saheli provides free computer literacy classes to clients and the community as part of our mission to empower South Asian women and families. For survivors of domestic violence, computer skills can greatly improve the prospects of finding a job and regaining independence.
Saheli volunteers run two sessions of weekly computer classes each year. Classes typically are held on fall and spring weeknights in Waltham and Quincy, MA.

Testimonial from Kate Tranquada, Library Director
“It is impossible to convey to you how valuable weekly computer instruction is to students in Waltham. Enclosed is a very modest check, an expression of thanks for the precious gift of time, talent and patience your volunteers bring to this project. Lead teacher Deepika Madan deserves the highest praise for graciously handling difficulties that came along, and for her unshakeable commitment. In addition to her knowledge of computers, she has the impressive ability to organize such a diverse group of students and help them all advance. Waltham is fortunate to benefit from such professional volunteer teachers….”
