Diya Chaturvedi Appointed New Co-Executive Director at Saheli

 

BURLINGTON, MA—Saheli Boston, a Massachusetts-based non-profit organization dedicated to addressing issues related to domestic violence in the South Asian community, has appointed Divya Chaturvedi as its new Co-Executive Director. She replaces Savitha Rajiv and Nadia Madden, who left Saheli recently.

Ms. Chaturvedi, who holds an MPA degree from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs, brings more than 12 years of global non-profit management experience passionately working on a range of gender issues from microfinance, domestic violence and gender research, to leadership development at a number of world’s leading international organizations and academic institutions like UNDP, UNIFEM, Ford Foundation, and Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) to name a few.

During her career, Ms. Chaturvedi has managed budgets of over $1 billion at New York City Office of Management and Budget, managed a Ford Foundation and CGAP global microfinance project working with organizations in over 31 countries, and has developed and delivered leadership training programs for women executives and professionals in the non-profit sector at Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Her leadership, management and significant grant writing experience would be invaluable for Saheli. We can’t wait to unfold Saheli’s journey to success with Divya.”

Ms. Chaturvedi has a long-term commitment to the cause of reducing domestic violence and the economic empowerment of women. Prior to accepting her current role at Saheli, she served as a volunteer for many months where she offered financial management training to domestic violence survivor and assisted survivors in obtaining full time employment, the Saheli statement said.

“With her strong entrepreneurial mind-set combined with a proven ability to build relationships with diverse audiences, and her track record of success, we are confident that Divya will achieve her vision of ‘making Saheli a leading domestic violence national agency by building partnerships across the country with other South Asian agencies, reaching out to more women with an effective outreach program, and developing Saheli’s capabilities in creating a strong empowerment program” said Saheli co-founders Usha Vakil and Gouri Banerjee.

Ms. Chaturvedi lives in Lexington with her husband and daughter who attends Lexington High School. She loves to travel with her family and volunteering as a mentor and coach to women who need help.
