Saheli provides programs and services in the areas of domestic & sexual violence, career and economic empowerment, mental health services, legal and immigration support, housing and public benefits assistance.
About the role:
Saheli seeks a seeks a staff attorney to be a part of the Saheli Legal Advocacy program. Saheli’s Legal Advocacy Program provides free legal representation and advocacy for survivors of domestic violence in Probate and Family Court proceedings, as well as abuse prevention proceedings. The attorney is expected to work on a hybrid schedule with three in-person days at the Saheli office in Woburn.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Managing a family law caseload that will include full representation cases, as well as counsel and advice, limited assistance representation, and brief service matters.
Work collaboratively with domestic & sexual violence advocates to provide well informed legal advice to survivors.
Providing occasional educational workshops on domestic violence related legal matters to the community.
Developing and promoting relationships with community partners.
Provide appropriate referrals to outside agencies and services.
Maintain and record all case data and facts into a case management system.
Providing direction and supervision of the paralegal
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge and skills in family law
The ability to travel to courthouses throughout the state.

Qualifications:
This position is for an attorney with 3-6 years of experience.
The candidate must be admitted to the Massachusetts bar.
The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Prior family law experience is preferred.
Prior experience working with survivors of domestic violence is preferred.
Fluency in a South Asian language or Arabic is helpful but not required
