Domestic Violence Advocate

Ayesha is a 10 year non-profit professional having received her BA in English and American Studies from the University of Massachusetts Boston and her MA in Middle Eastern Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London, England. After a brief career as a political researcher and freelance journalist, Ayesha changed courses to follow her calling, which is to work with women and girls, tackling issues such as anti-bullying, health, wellness and healing. Over the last decade, she has worked with a wide-ranging population, from high school aged girls, leading empowerment and body-image acceptance programs, to working with homeless women assisting them in finding jobs as well placing them into permanent and stable housing. Before becoming a Domestic Violence Advocate for Saheli, Ayesha directed a homeless shelter for women and their children in the City of Boston, running case management as well as creating programs designed to assist women seeking healing and self-sufficiency. As a DV Advocate for Saheli, Ayesha looks forward to continuing to pursue her dedication to working with and assisting women who find themselves in challenging life circumstances.
