Saheli organized a kick-off meeting in the Roche Brothers Meeting Room in Quincy on June 5th with presentations about Quincy’s Asian residents, school profiles of immigrant children, and domestic violence and mental health resources available to the Asian community. The meeting was organized with the help of John Brothers of Quincy Asian Resources. Speakers included:
- Nicholas Ahearn, Principal, Clifford Marshall School, Quincy;
- John Brothers, Exec. Director and Elsa Chiu Outreach Specialist, Quincy Asian Resources Inc.; and
- Nisha Kagal & Gureen Singh, South Shore Mental Health counselors.
- An exciting healthy cooking demonstration by Meenakshi Garodia of Brookline CCTV concluded the day.
Saheli served a free lunch donated by Apna Punjab to 20 community members . This was the first event organized by Vandana Sharma, Saheli’s South Shore Coordinator.
