On March 23rd, 12pm-2pm, Saheli had the honor of hosting REACH’s Community Engagement Specialist, Lauren Montanaro and her colleague in our office. In this time, Lauren and her colleague tailored their presentation around various legal issues including: the heightened fear around immigration, restraining orders, shelters, housing, and a general overview of domestic violence. Throughout the training, both participants and the trainers mutually engaged in a dialogue of exchanging information. Saheli’s shared their culturally nuanced experiences as well as their concerns and Lauren and her colleague answered every question as thoroughly as they could. Overall, this was a refreshing training that gave everyone in the room — advocates, volunteers, and even guests — something new to take with them. Saheli looks forward to part 2 of this training next week!
