Saheli’s joined with Lahey Hospital community outreach group and the Burlington Police department at Lord Baron Apartments in Burlington. Fresh produce and fruits from local farmers were donated to the community and close to 100 families stopped in for the event. The police department demonstrated car safety procedures for infants and children and the fire department spoke about safety in the home. Several community organizations hosted tables. At least 50 families stopped by the Saheli table and picked up literature about women’s economic empowerment, where to go to get help for domestic violence and fliers about a support group now forming for October.
