About Saheli & Services

This presentation introduces participants to Saheli’s mission, the communities we serve, and the culturally responsive, trauma-informed services we provide to survivors and their families. Participants learn about Saheli’s bilingual helpline, domestic violence advocacy, emergency and transitional housing, legal and immigration support, mental health services, economic empowerment, parenting programs, and other resources. The training also helps community organizations, schools, professionals, and partners understand how to recognize when someone may need support and how to connect survivors with Saheli’s services.

Cultural Competency Training

Saheli’s Cultural Competency Training helps organizations, professionals, and community members better understand the cultural, linguistic, and social factors that can affect how survivors experience and respond to domestic violence and other forms of abuse. Drawing from Saheli’s experience working with South Asian and Arabic-speaking communities, the training explores cultural barriers, acculturation stress, language access, family and community dynamics, and ways to provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed support. The goal is to help participants build greater awareness, respond with compassion, and create environments where survivors feel safe, understood, and supported.

Prevention Workshops

Saheli’s Prevention Workshops focus on building awareness and helping individuals and communities recognize the early signs of unhealthy and abusive relationships. Through interactive, age-appropriate discussions and activities, participants learn about healthy relationships, red flags, consent, boundaries, bystander intervention, and ways to support someone who may be experiencing abuse. These workshops are designed to empower young people, families, and community members with the knowledge and tools to help create safer, healthier communities.

Know Your Rights Presentation

Saheli’s Know Your Rights Presentation provides survivors and community members with practical information about their legal rights and the resources available to them. This presentation helps participants understand their options and navigate systems such as family law, housing, immigration, and other essential services. Through culturally responsive and accessible education, Saheli works to ensure that language, culture, or lack of familiarity with U.S. systems do not prevent survivors from understanding their rights or seeking support.
