We wish Saheli’s Web & Communications Consultant Joya Banerjee all the best as she transitions to a new job in Washington D.C. with Johns Hopkins University’s NGO, Jhpiego as a Senior Technical Officer on Gender.
We shall miss Joya’s tireless efforts to bring greater visibility, structure, professionalism, and recognition to Saheli’s work. Joya honed her own non-profit management skills by founding and directing the Global Youth Coalition on HIV/AIDS, an international NGO focused on HIV and adolescent reproductive health in 173 countries worldwide.
Working from New York, Joya volunteered and then consulted for Saheli for over three years. She built and helped manage Saheli’s new website, logo, Facebook page, e-groups, quarterly newsletter, event promotion and branding materials, with the help of graphic designer Sharan Pawa and web developer Jordan Manwaring. Joya also assisted with drafting job descriptions, updating Saheli’s online donation and volunteer registration systems, editing and compiling the newsletter, identifying grant opportunities and writing a grant proposal for federal funding to the Department of Justice, Office of Prevention of Violence Against Women.
We thank Joya for her enormous contributions to Saheli, and shall continue to use her skills in a limited way in the years ahead. Saheli is fortunate to have a young leader such as Joya as a loyal contributor and supporter.
